Music Poster

Process

This project explores the relationship between visual rhythm and motion, drawing on music being translated into a visual poster. The poster is based on John Coltranes song “Naima.” The song was written as a melancholic love song towards his first wife, whose relationship with him was complicated. This psoter captures the loving yet somber feelings the song portrays.

The design was developed digitally in Procreate before being brought into Illustrator to vectorize and refine the composition. From there, the elements were translated into the physical form using a Circut machine and cardstock paper. Each element was then elevated using foam tape for added dimension.
