Field Guides

This project is a set of 3 booklets that bring awareness to endangered birds that live in the Atlantic Rainforest and their causes of endangerment or extinction. The purpose of this project is to practice hierarchy and layout design within a vareity of grid structures. Each booklet follows a different grid structure: manuscript, columnar, and extreme scale.

The first field guide follows a manuscript grid and highlights the causes of endangerment of these birds throughout the forest. The second book follows a 3 column grid and highlights ten birds that are endangered or threatened. The third book follows a deconstructed grid and focuses on the probelmatic nature of songbird trading.

This series of booklets is stylized to immitate a watercolor effect, and printed on watercolor paper to solidify the tactility of watercolor painting. They are bound together using a delicate green thread.
